AD1 PALKHIVALA: Stressful Times & A Peaceful Life
The practice of Purna Yoga has helped thousands of students from around the word handle difficult life changes and learn how to emerge smiling.  You will release the tension in your body through the practice of carefully designed serieses.  You will learn ancient meditation techniques, revived by Mirra, to release the tension in your mind.  The powerful philosophy of Sri Aurobindo, the Gita and Pitajalis Yoga Sutras, will clarify the meaning of your life and help you live it more fully.  The power of Purna Yoga is in the fact that it addresses all aspects of our world, and gives solutions for our lives, both in the body-mind continuum and in the outer world.
Prepare to be relaxed, to work hard and then to feel the fulfillment of a balanced Purna Yoga practice over this wonderful all day intensive with Aadil.
Please bring a mat, a yoga block, a strap and blanket.

AD2 BLOSSOM & EASTON Shadow Yoga and Buddhist Meditation.

Shadow Yoga, founded by yoga master Zhander Remete, is a Hatha Yoga system that utilizes the Ayurvedic marma system of vital points and rhythmic breathing with bandhas to free the peripheral body of its energetic obstructions and to ignite our inner fire or agni for healing and meditation. The practice consists of spiraling, circular, and linear movements designed to integrate the common principles of yoga asana, martial arts, South Indian dance and Ayurvedic/Siddha medicine.

The meditation sessions will include instruction on two distinct forms of Shamatha (Calm Abiding) meditation, the first is 'Mindfulness of the Breath' as taught by the Buddha, and the second is 'Settling the Mind in Its Natural State' as taught by the 8th century Indian Buddhist sage, Padmasambhava who brought Tantric Buddhism to Tibet. Shamatha in all its aspects is the foundation for the more advanced practice of Vipassana (Insight) meditation, and also is a direct vehicle for full awakening in and of itself. Beginning and experienced meditators welcome. Scott and Chandra weave together their knowledge of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Ayurveda, Shadow Yoga, and Buddhism to create a seamless tapestry of healing and embodied wisdom.

AD3 FREEMAN: Yoga In The Mirror of Buddhism
In this day-long Intensive we will explore the deep internal forms of postures traditional within the Astanga Vinyasa yoga system, so that students can experience how these forms demonstrate and ground the concepts of Yoga and Buddhism through the direct experience of the joining of prana with apana within the core of the body. The morning session will be a led asana practice focusing the meditative flow of postures and the afternoon session will include chanting, comparative philosophy and pranayama. The intensive is appropriate for intermediate and advanced students with at least one year of experience.

INTRO TO YOGA WITH AUBREY HACKMAN 4:30-5:45pm- This class will be available to all pass holders and is intended for anyone who is new to yoga or anyone who would like to be refreshed with terms, common poses and basic principals.

Tending the Fire: Ayurveda and Yoga for Balancing our Inner Fire
Fire is humankind’s oldest religion. Ancient cultures ritually celebrated the power of fire to illuminate and inspire our lives. Ayurveda and yoga descend from a spiritual tradition that sees life as a ritual of tending to our inner fire, or agni. When burning bright our agni endows us with radiant health, clarity, and the courage to act with integrity.  Moment by moment the choices we make in our yoga practice influence the internal fires of our body and mind.  Join Scott for yoga practice and discussion of how we tend our inner fire with asana and pranayama.

This class works deep with the spine—the vertebrae, the discs and surrounding musculature-- to harmonize and illuminate the central channel.

We will also focus on the principal of Shakti and why the ancient teachers emphasized and embraced the feminine principal as a way of connecting to our own positive, dynamic, and creative forces.

Practices for Healing and Strengthening the Bones, Joints, and Nerves
What are the keys to a life long yoga practice?  How do we maintain a dynamic practice without creating “wear and tear” injuries, instability, or exhaustion?   Like the pillars, cornerstones, and inner light of a sacred temple the bones, joints, and nerves comprise the foundation of the body and mind. The hatha yoga and Ayurvedic traditions articulate systematic practices for healing and strengthening this ground of our being. Integrating both Eastern and Western anatomical models, especially the Ayurvedic marma theory of vital points, this course explores the profound interrelationships between the bones, joints and nervous system.

The Heart of Asana
Asanas are often done as a substitute for injury-causing aerobics or jogging.  Yet the essence of asana practice was never intended to be physical, but was designed for the involution of consciousness to open the heart center. The focus of this workshop will be postures and breathing to find and open the heart, hence learning to live life from within.  Suggest at least 6 months or more yoga experience. Please bring a mat, a yoga block, a strap and blanket.

Buddha Belly
The Buddha belly is a common metaphor for ease, relaxation and deep presence in the body. Unfortunately for many, the belly is a common place for holding nervous tension. The function of our digestion is crucial, for it is where we taken in process and assimilate food and feelings. It is also the seat of intuition in the body. In this class we investigate how yoga practice can benefit digestion, increase (or decrease) digestive fire and balance the third chakra in the solar plexus. Practice includes gentle back arches, twists, and forward bends. Bring block, strap and blanket.

Bending Backward, Moving Forward
Backbends seem to get all the glory in yoga practice. And for good reason! These are challenging asanas that go right to the heart of the yogi's intentions - to live a life filled with love. Backbends create room for fearlessness, and that is a challenging quality to practice and embody. But, through back bending, we become much more comfortable with moving fearlessly in our lives. This exciting Jivamukti vinyasa workshop will allow us to open our hearts and break free of what keeps us from joy. Please come ready for an intense asana practice. A strap and block are required.

The Whole Practice
Breath, asana and bandha (in that order) integrate as a seamless process. Apply asana and bandha efficiently to produce a powerful practice that is right for you. Introducing breath and bandha as the central feature of your asana. "Yoga is the means for ordinary folk to absorb the nurturing and healing force of Life." Asana is hatha yoga "ha tha," "Strength receiving" which has profound implication to our Life, health and experience. How do we make sure our asana is actually hatha yoga? (Practice and discussion)

B210- TIAS LITTLE- BEGINNER
Is This Ordinary or is This Sacred?
This class demystifies the belief that yoga practice is something very special. Too often yoga is thought to be all too precious by invoking the sacred in order to achieve an other- worldly state. This class explores what it means to actualize our yoga in such a way that our practice does not become too self-important, but rather is a training to become, as one of my teachers said, “more ordinary than ordinary”.

The Grace of Twists and Backbends
Twists are a critical yet much misunderstood part of the asana practice.  Twists churn the heavy residue that life sediments in the digestive system as well as prepare the spine for backbends.  Backbends open the heart and throat and bring more vitality to the body by drawing the kidney energy of the past into the present.  Learn how to do backbends safely, with alignment and strength, so that as you move deeper into the practice of backbends and enjoy their benefits by inviting more light and love into your body. Please bring a mat, a yoga block, a strap and blanket.

Feeing Your Demons – Part Two
This workshop will explore the nature of mind through applied meditation practice. The experience of Prajna, one's capacity to perceive the ineffable vastness of basic space, is what gives birth to all the Buddhas. Historic Mahayana literature, girded by Tantric sub currents, associates liberating wisdom with the form of a goddess, Prajna Paramita. She is said to be the mother of all the Buddhas. Because these enlightened beings have issued from the state of wisdom, she is the genetrix. Without this experience of her, they would not become Buddhas. This vast clarity, full of compassion, is the Great Mother, commonly described as vast and open as the sky. Through meditation and relaxed dialogue we will experientially explore this theme.

•    Please note: Lama Tsultrim Allione's first workshop on Feeding Your Demons is a prerequisite for attending this workshop.
