Yoga Lineages/Styles offered
Ashtanga (ash-tang-a) is the system of Yoga taught by Sri K. Pattabhi Jois at the Ashtanga Yoga research institute in Mysore, India. This method of Yoga involves synchronizing the breath with progressive series of postures - a process producing intense internal heat and a profuse, purifying sweat that detoxifies muscles and organs. The result is improved circulation, a light and strong body, and a calm mind. 1

AcroYoga blends the spiritual wisdom of yoga, the loving kindness of Thai massage, and the dynamic power of Acrobatics. These three ancient lineages form the foundation of a unique new practice that cultivates trust, connection and playfulness. 2

Ayurveda is an intricate system of healing that originated in India thousands of years ago. It is a Science of Life. We are all part and parcel of nature. Just as the animals and plants live in harmony with nature and utilize the Laws of Nature to create health and balance within their beings, we, too, adhere to these very same principles. Therefore, it is fair to say that Ayurveda is a system that helps maintain health in a person by using the inherent principles of nature to bring the individual back i nto equilibrium with their true self. 3

Forrest Yoga works specifically to address current day stresses and challenges, both physical and emotional. Forrest Yoga use intense pose sequences, compassionately taught, to develop skills in awakening each of the senses. It teaches you to bring aliveness, using breath, into every cell of your body, igniting your passion for living. 4

Iyengar Yoga emphasizes postures and the development of balance and alignment. To support students' explorations of postures, Iyengar yoga makes use of a wide variety of props: belts, blocks, pillows, and balls. Iyengar is one of the most widely practiced yoga techniques in the West. It was developed in India by B.K.S. Iyengar and responds to indivuals with varying limitations and capacities for accomplishing postures. Iyengar yoga is noted for great attention to detail and the prices alignment of postures. 5

Jivamukti Yoga is a vigorous and challenging form of vinyasa asana practice (flowing postures), infused with an inspiring musical soundtrack, where original scriptures are cited, Sanskrit is chanted and meditation is part of every class. 6

Restorative Yoga is a gentle, therapeutic style of Yoga that uses props to support the body to deepen the benefits of the poses. It is a soothing and nurturing practice that promotes the effects of conscious relaxation. 7
Tibetan Buddhism : The morning meditations will be led by Chandra Easton,
whose practice and teaching draws from her studies of the oldest
(Nyingma) lineage of Tibetan Buddhism. These classes will focus on the
foundational practices of Shamatha (Calm-abiding) and Vipashyana (Insight)
from the Dzogchen (Great Perfection) teachings as taught by Padmasambhava,
the 8th century Buddhist sage who brought Buddhism to Tibet. Shamatha and
Vipashyana, both initially taught by the Buddha 2500 years ago, have proved
to be relevant in our modern times. Shamatha helps to soothe and center the
mind, while Vipashyana unites us with the inner luminosity and wisdom of our
true nature. Each class will include a brief explanation of the practices
and then guided and silent meditation. All levels welcome.

Tibetan Heart Yoga, which is the yoga practiced by the Dalai Lamas of Tibet combines classical well known yoga poses with specific meditations for opening our hearts. 8

Yoga Slackers is putting yoga on the slackline to expand your sense of balance, focus and adventurous spirit. They are also sharing their energized dream for positive change by promoting a greater awareness in sustainable lifestyle choices.

Yoga Therapy follows the discipline from which certain elements can be utilized when applicable to specific needs e.g., breathing techniques, postures, visual focusing, cleansing processes and meditation. 9
Vinyasa is a term that covers a broad range of yoga classes. The word Vinyasa means "breath-synchronized movement." In other words, the teacher will instruct you to move from one pose to the next on an inhale or an exhale. This technique is sometimes also called Vinyasa Flow, or just Flow because of the smooth way that the poses run together and become like a dance. 10
